This is one of my favorites scenes from the movie.

Because it teaches us a very nice lesson. A great leader doesn't tell you what to do, he shows you how it's done. Everybody was dubting the possibility of the mission being successful. Everybody was like, “Mmh, that can't be done.” or, “I'm not sure it can be done.” And then Maverick, the leader, he hinself wen there and prove to them that it is possible, it is achievable.
